FIELDSPerceiving energy directly as it flows in the universe is a unit of cognition that shamans live by.

They see how energy flows, and follow its flow…

If the flow is obstructed, they move away to do something entirely different…”

US MAN HELPS SUICIDAL KIWI
“A suicidal man in Canterbury may have been saved by an American internet forum moderator.”

This is one of those stories that gives you back your faith in your fellow human beings. It would have been really easy for this guy to not pay any attention to this at all. But he did, and as a result another man all the way on the other side of the world was given what he needed. Very cool. Read more HERE.

THE ARMADILLO BRINGS PEACE & QUIET

This is an unusal and so-far effective way to deal with crummy neighbors..wish there was one here for those dogs across the street who yap 24/7….

By Carrie Porter
“PEORIA, Ill. — This industrial city, hard hit by the recession, has found a new, low-budget way to fight crime: Park an unmanned, former Brink’s truck bristling with video cameras in front of the dwellings of troublemakers.

“The ugliness of the Armadillo is what makes it unique,” says Jim Pasco, executive director of the National Fraternal Order of Police. “A police car is not a particular stigma, but if people see that thing in front of your house, they know something bad is going on in there.”

IS BOTTLED WATER REALLY BETTER THAN TAP WATER?
Here in Hawaii, we are lucky to have great tap water. But where you live may not be so great. Here’s an interesting argument against the greed of water compaines: read more HERE.

ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COIN….Here’s an ENVIRONMENTALLY CONSCIOUS BOTTLED WATER

beluBELU.ORG: Check this out.

Here’s a bottled water with bottles that are “carbon neutral”–made from corn and biodegradable (wonder if it’s non-GMO corn…). Very cool.

And yet–the owner is a guy who is supposedly in business, is doing a ‘good thing,’ but doesn’t have the smarts to know that you’ve got to put at least some of the money you make back into your biz so you can keep doing it. Hello?

He’s got a very cool idea, but how long do you think people will want to carry him financially? Someone needs to give him a clue and get him off his guilt for making money. Let’s see, I just think I’ll go into business to take a loss…Belu.org

Belu was INSPIRED BY THE U.N. GLOBAL COMPACT
“Belu [pron. blue] was originally inspired by the launch of the United Nation’s Global Compact in 2001. This was Kofi Annan’s initiative to engage the largest businesses in the world to help solve the largest social and environmental problems in the world.

“One of Belu’s founding members, Reed Paget, had attended the launch event as a journalist and was inspired by the concept of “using capitalism to change the world”. Paget decided to try putting this idea into practice. Instead of sitting on the sidelines and merely reporting on how businesses could be doing a better job in improving the world, he decided to start his own company with a social and environmental objective at its core.

“After some contemplation, and being joined by a number of friends, the business decided upon was a socially benevolent and environmentally-responsible bottled water company.

“Given that a quarter of the people on earth do not have access to clean water, this certainly seemed like an issue needed such attention. To address this problem, the decision was made to give 100% of the profits made through selling a bottle of water to fund clean water projects around the world.

“The group also felt a bottled water brand could be used to raise public awareness to the water crisis. Last but not least, they saw an opportunity to try to manufacture and distribute bottled water in a more socially and environmentally-sustainable manner.” worldwatercouncil.org

I still say they need to wake up to the fact that any investor wants to see a return on his dollar and won’t want to keep on giving every year. He can’t, really, because it would be a too-oft-repeated tax loss. But if Belu would 1. take whatever it needs to operate and 2. give a slice to the investors, the rest can go to PR and to fund the water projects. Just makes sense.

Hi Angela, I just finished reading the Belu.org site and they say in there that they deduct operating costs first and then donate what is left over (net profit). Is that what you were referring to?
I am new at business, so I know I have a lot to learn about how to make a business successful. Isn’t deducting operating costs an investment in the company, or are you thinking about expansion of the company? Please understand that I am asking not criticizing.
    Warmly, Hank

Thanks for your note. Yes, they deduct operating expenses, but they also need to pay for expansion, as you say. The thing is that they are supported by investors, and investors like to see a return on their dollar.

The company needs to take a part of the monies it earns and give the investors their due to keep them happy and keep them reinvesting, because they didn’t go into this solely to be good guys, I’m sure–most investors like to make money!

The company needs to take a look at how they can recreate their profit pie so they can slice it up so that the business doesn’t fail–because if it does, all their hard work and grand ideas about giving money to water causes go out the window. Thanks again for writing.

    aloha – Angela
