Angels in My Garden

This morning as I was thinking about something with which I was having a small problem, I clicked on today’s inspiremetoday.com’s interview with Sophy Burnham. She reminded me of my past encounters with angels.

In the interview, she says, “How can you learn to see them? You ask. You simply ask: ‘Show yourself,’ you say. ‘I want to see you. Let me know that you are there.’ “

I thought, OK, I’ll try that. I said it out loud. And I laughed out loud as I saw right away that I was expecting some kind of white-robed, human-shaped being to come into my view–pretty silly–I know that angels take many shapes.

It was slightly overcast this morning, the light mellow, muted. As I gazed at my garden outside my window after I asked the angel(s?) to appear to me,

the light slowly started to grow and grow, getting so bright I had to shade my eyes. I wasn’t seeing any human-shaped angel, but boy, how could I deny that my garden has been my own special angel?

It brought tears to my eyes–yup, I’m a sappy gal sometimes–and I thought of all the times I had gone out to sit with my wonderful plants and just drink in their peace.

angel-garden4hsiteI have a few fern plants that are over 6 feet tall, and I love to go stand in them, feel their presence all around me. They calm me down and help me feel centered and grounded.

My straggly volunteer tomatoes and papaya trees are fast friends, the tomato vines draping themselves all over the huge, hand-shaped leaves of the papaya, almost like it’s saying, just lean on me, everything will be OK.

Why do I tell you this? Because it’s my belief that we can find angels anywhere. And that we can nurture them, too, as they nurture us–by looking at plants, animals, birds, landscapes with love in our eyes and a full heart.

And when we want and need it, we can lean on them, know they are there, lighting up our lives.

Ask for your angels to appear, and look with your inner eyes. Do it now, and if you don’t believe they are there, suspend belief for a few minutes just to give it a try.

I hope this has made your day a little brighter, too! Comments are open!

    Angela,

I want to take a photo of you in your garden. That is the only Angel(a) that is missing:-)

This is a great story! I dont know why you rated it as corny. It’s almost as if you have to excuse yourself for believing in angels or for liking your own garden.

I tried to ’see’ my angels but it didnt happen. Instead, I ‘hear’ them. It’s like a resolute voice in my head, which is so resolute and certain that I dont think it’s mine. As soon as I told them “Angels, let me see you now! Show yourselves to me!” I heard in my head, “No, we are too powerful to manifest ourselves to you, you wont be able to take it.” Is it so? I dont know. I’ll try again. Or maybe not.

Anyway, just wanted to say, this is a great story and I especially LOVE your drawings of angels!! :) )

Thanks for such a great note – I have a Voice, too – I call it the Voice of Dreaming, because it came to me first in my sleep, but now comes any old time. Maybe you can ask for a toned down vision of them, like through a lovely filter!

I call it corny because I love cornball stuff – in this critical, cynical day and age simple jokes that don’t harm anyone, seeing angels, silliness and goofiness just for the fun of it – that’s what is corny to me. I didn’t mean as a criticism at all! And I certainly am not shy of saying I believe in angels – not after some of the experiences I’ve had. But I see your point – thanks. Glad you like the drawings!

Hi Angela, Thank you for sharing…I felt like I had visited in your garden with you. I have no problem with Angels…corny or otherwise. They certainly don’t take it personally. I have communicated with Angels for a long time now and wonder why more people don’t. Perhaps it is the the five sense thing where if you can’t see it, feel it, taste it or touch it, it can’t be real. What a blessing in their lives they are missing…just my personal opinion. Angel Blessings.
