You Are A Center of Influence

Since I was away last weekend, I have a buildup of Weekend Goodies. I’ll be adding one or two a day now and then. So, if you haven’t already, you might want to sign up for the RSS feed so you can see the Goodies as I add them during the week. You will find the RSS feed links to the right on the home page.

I’ve been asked why I do them…well, for fun! When I was a kid, I used to adore reading all the papers and magazines my folks subscribed to. Well, I really ought to say I devoured them. I still do. I just love to see what people are doing and saying, especially if it is intelligent, funny or enlightening–even better if all three.

I’m also interested in bucking the status quo. Normal isn’t a part of my vocabulary. The status quo is what keeps us numb, asleep and easily malleable by the powers-that-(try)-to-be and their minions, the press.

But see, now there are those of us who realize that we are not “just” EFT practitioners, not j”just” coaches, not “just” marketers, not “just” (fill in the blank)–we are centers of influence. We are the new media. If we so choose, now we have the technology that enables us to stand up and bypass the entire system–media, gov, the whole thing. Whew–dangerous thinking, eh?

Ask yourself: do you have a mailing list, or a group of people who respect what you say? You, too, then, are a center of influence, even if your list is a list of two. Why? Because those two have friends and they have friends…word spreads fast now. But you know that. All I have to say is one word: Twitter. You get it.

I invite you to give this deeper thought, because it’s your highest ideals and inspiration that can help others see new perspectives on their lives, and perhaps empower them to make changes in their thinking and actions that will allow them more peace, love and happiness. That’s real wealth.

I don’t want to be a center of influence that tells people what to do, think or say. That would be a dictator. It doesn’t make me very happy to think about being that. To me, a responsible, beneficIal center of influence is one that inspires thought, reflection, and a different set of actions through the conscious choice of the audience.

Yes, I am a center of influence, and I acknowledge that position with both great seriousness and joy. I get to share what I love, aside from “just” being a coach, artist, author, radio show host–those are just part of my function as a human Being. Don’t get caught up in your own title. It’s too small.

How do you view yourself? If you think you live in a vacuum, think again. You have great potential for spreading joy and high ideas. Use it. Gently. With respect. And great Heart. Please.
