How Do You Deal with This ‘Evil’?

Dangerous Questions, Rant 1 Comment

01-grrrrrr2Last week I heard from almost everyone I spoke with here on Oahu that they were tired, or they felt ill or nauseous, had herpes breakouts, felt down or disillusioned, depressed, exhausted.

I was stunned to see so many people down at the dumps. But when I spoke with my health coach on Saturday, I got an answer.

She told me her ‘inside info people’ had told her that the

Dr. Mercola: How Industry Manipulates Scientific Results to Justify “Safety”

Dr. Mercola

This is an excerpt of an important article on GMO by Dr. mercola. I hope you’ll review it and go to the whole article on his site (link at bottom). {Ed.]

In recent times we’ve seen researchers being exposed for creating entirely fraudulent research; studies are ghostwritten and researchers are paid to put their names on work they’ve had no part in; journalists are paid to write articles that are nothing more than thinly disguised advertising, and the list of scientific deception goes on.

All of this deceptive maneuvering gives industry the appearance of being science based, when in fact they’re oftentimes far from it.

Of course this creates confusion. How could it not?

But there is a simple, rational solution. And that is to pay attention to the source of the funding, for one, and to pay special heed to research that comes from independent sources that have no vested interest in manipulating the end results.

When you do, you’ll find that there is no shortage of scientific based evidence showing a wide variety of hazards that are currently being ignored and glossed over with, in many cases, completely nonsensical PR sound bytes.

Jeffrey Smith is clearly one of the leading experts on genetically modified foods in the world, and his not-for-profit organization ResponsibleTechnology.org has amassed an ever growing number of studies illustrating the grave dangers inherent with GMOs.

Avoiding a Problem Doesn’t Prove It’s Not There – How Industry Manipulates Scientific Results to Justify “Safety”

“These guys have gotten bad science down to a science. They are expert at figuring out ways to avoid finding the problems,” Smith says.

“When genetically modified bovine growth hormone was being tested, one disgruntled FDA employee evidently stole the documents and made them public.

They showed that when Monsanto’s researchers wanted to prove that the [rBGH] injections did not interfere with the cow’s fertility, they secretly introduced cows to the study that were already pregnant before they were ever injected.

And when they wanted to show that the pasteurization process destroys the hormone that’s increased in the milk supply, they pasteurized the milk 120 times longer than normal. That destroyed 19 percent of the hormones.

So they doused the milk with 147 times the amount of the naturally existing hormone, and heated the milk 120 times longer than normal. Under those bizarre circumstances, they were able to destroy 90 percent of the rBGH hormone, and that’s what the FDA reported – that pasteurization destroys 90 percent of the hormone. “

Essentially, the entire scientific method was bastardized and rigged, and used as an incredibly deceptive, yet effective, mechanism to convince people that rBGH was safe.

“In fact, I talked to a former Monsanto scientist who said he was aware that colleagues had fed genetically modified corn to certain rodents and came up with problems,” Smith says. “But instead of pulling the corn off the market or withdrawing the application, they rewrote the study to hide the incidence of the problems.

He also said that three of his colleagues who were doing safety studies on Monsanto’s genetically modified bovine growth hormone stopped drinking milk after they saw the changes in the milk.”

New Coach: Why Not Flash and Dash?

Dangerous Questions Comments Off

ALERTSomeone asked me last Saturday, when I mentioned my new coach, Sydni Craig-Hart at http://SmartSimpleMarketing.com, what was the big deal about her?

“She’s not a big-name, she’s not flashy like Ali Brown is now, she’s not anyone who looks in any way out of the ordinary. How come you’re so excited about her, Angela?’

Precisely because of all
that. In most cases, when you look up the big-name coaches, you can’t have access to them without paying both arms, both legs, your first-born and half your blood. If you don’t, you end up with one of their unknown coaches-for-hire who I wouldn’t know from Adam or Eve. Why would I want to do that?

I wanted someone who knew
what she was doing, didn’t charge 43 million bucks a milli-second just because she has a big name, and who could get me where I want t go.

I don’t want flash and dash. I’m not a flashy person, and I don’t care about flash and dash. What I do want is

Dr. Mercola: Aspartame – by Any Other Name It’s Still A Deadly Poison

Dangerous Questions, Dr. Mercola Strikes Again! Comments Off

poison3hAmerica’s Deadliest Sweetener Betrays Millions, Then Hoodwinks You With Name Change

ATTENTION! Aspartame producer Ajinomoto is launching a new initiative that will rebrand the sweetener as “AminoSweet.”

Aspartame is used in many foods and beverages marketed as low calorie or sugar-free. However, its reputation has been clouded somewhat by studies that have investigated reports of ill effects.

Just to remind you, the side effects of aspartame can include:

* Headache
* Change in vision
* Convulsions and seizures
* Hallucination
* Nausea and vomiting
* Joint pain

It can cause many, many other problems as well.

Aspartame is the most controversial food additive in history, and its approval for use in food was the most contested in FDA history. In the end, the artificial sweetener was approved, not on scientific grounds, but rather because of strong political and financial pressure. After all, aspartame was previously listed by the Pentagon as a biochemical warfare agent!

It’s hard to believe such a chemical would be allowed into the food supply, but it was, and it has been wreaking silent havoc with people’s health for the past 30 years.

The truth is,

Dangerous Questions, Dr. Mercola Strikes Again! Comments Off

It is a well-known fact that many of the top diseases plaguing the United States are diet-related, including obesity, heart disease, diabetes and even cancer. The National Institutes of Health even states that four of the six leading causes of death in the U.S. are linked to unhealthy diets.

This is one of the primary reasons that has lead to the startling fact that the current generation is the first one in recorded history in which their lifespan will actually be shorter than their parents. This is primarily due to chronic degenerative diseases that result from insulin and leptin resistance.

School Lunch Programs Get a Failing Grade

Processed foods are the norm at most school cafeterias, where under $1 a day is spent to feed your children.

“Renegade lunch lady” Ann Cooper talks about the coming revolution in the way kids eat at school — local, sustainable, seasonal and even educational food.

Hopefully this revolution will also influence the number of junk food ads on TV. The association between television viewing and childhood obesity is directly related to children’s exposure to commercials that advertise unhealthy foods, according to a new study.

The study is the first to break down the types of television children watch to better determine whether different kinds of content may exert different effects on obesity.

The researchers gathered data from primary caregivers of more than 3,500 children, ranging from infants to 12-year-olds. Through time-use diaries, study respondents reported their children’s activities, including television viewing, throughout the course of an entire weekday and an entire weekend day.

Among all children, commercial viewing was significantly associated with higher BMI, although the effect was stronger for children younger than 7.

Dr. Mercola: Banned in 160 Nations… Yet U.S. FDA Regards it as Safe?

Dangerous Questions, Dr. Mercola Strikes Again! Comments Off

cow-sadA livestock drug banned in 160 nations and responsible for hyperactivity, muscle breakdown and 10 percent mortality in pigs has been approved by the FDA.

The beta agonist ractopamine, a repartitioning agent that increases protein synthesis, was recruited for livestock use when researchers found the drug, used in asthma, made mice more muscular.

Ractopamine is started as the animal nears slaughter.

How does a drug marked, “Not for use in humans. Individuals with cardiovascular disease should exercise special caution to avoid exposure. Use protective clothing, impervious gloves, protective eye wear, and a NIOSH-approved dust mask” become “safe” in human food?

The drug is banned in Europe, Taiwan and China, and more than 1,700 people have been “poisoned” from eating pigs fed the drug since 1998, but ractopamine is used in 45 percent of U.S. pigs and 30 percent of ration-fed cattle.

Ractopamine, aka Paylean and Optaflexx, is banned in 160 countries, including Europe, Taiwan and China. If imported meat is found to contain traces of the drug, it is turned away, while fines and imprisonment result for its use in banned countries.

Yet, in the United States 45 percent of pigs, 30 percent of ration-fed cattle, and an unknown percentage of turkeys are pumped full of this drug in the days leading up to slaughter.

Why?

This drug, manufactured by Elanco Animal Health, increases protein synthesis. In other words, it makes animals more muscular … and this increases food growers’ bottom line.

Adding insult to injury, up to 20 percent of ractopamine remains in the meat you buy from the supermarket, according to veterinarian Michael W. Fox. Yet this drug is marked “Not for use in humans,” and is known to increase death and disability in livestock.

Why is Ractopamine Allowed in U.S. Meat?

Stop Monsanto from Releasing GMO Roundup Ready Alfalfa!

Dangerous Questions, Recommendations 4 Comments

people-under-rockALERT! The USDA and Secretary Vilsack, in collaboration with Monsanto, are about to lift a court-ordered ban on Monsanto’s genetically modified (GM) “Roundup Ready” alfalfa.

This GMO would have disastrous effects on US and global agriculture. If you have not done so already, we ask you to submit comments (it will only take 2 minutes!) before the Wednesday, March 3rd deadline.

Genetically engineered alfalfa would be the first perennial GM crop, and would result in a huge increase of toxic RoundUp in the environment. [Just what we need, eh? People with environmental sensitivities might as well hang it up right now! ed.]

It would expose livestock widely to both genetically engineered genes and pesticide residues. It would especially affect cows and horses–their health, their reproduction, and their byproducts, particularly milk.

Alfalfa pollen is carried far and wide by the wind and bees, so the presence of GM alfalfa in the environment would contaminate organic alfalfa, rendering organic dairy impossible. Consumers who eat alfalfa sprouts would be exposed directly, as well as those who eat meat.

Despite positive trends, this is the most serious GMO threat yet, as it creates the legal precedent at the Supreme Court level, for GMO contamination to be acceptable for any crop, with the support of the USDA (see Background below).

Sorry to alarm you, but it would be extremely helpful if each of you could take action before March 3 by doing one or more of the following:

1. Follow the directions in the True Food Network page (see below) to conveniently call your Senators and Representatives on Monday and Tuesday, and tell them that they should not support the commercialization of GM-alfalfa. This will have a strong impact, as there have not been enough comments to date.

2. Follow this link: http://capwiz.com/grassrootsnetroots/issues/alert/?alertid=14469696 to the Organic Consumers Association (OCA) where you can send the OCA email letter by clicking “take action now.” This will take you 2 minutes and can be done on the weekend.

3. Submit comments directly to the USDA at: http://www.regulations.gov/search/Regs/home.html#submitComment?R=0900006480a6b7a1. You can write your own comments from the points below and above, or copy and paste the letter found at the OCA link: http://capwiz.com/grassrootsnetroots/issues/alert/?alertid=14469696

Call your Congressional Representatives today and ask them to hold USDA accountable by contacting Secretary of Agriculture Vilsack and urging him to deny approval of Monsanto’s GE alfalfa! Call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard: (202)224-3121 and ask for your Senator/Representative’s office. If you do not know who they are click here to look them up. Speak with the agriculture staff person or leave a message. Tell them that you DO NOT support the deregulation of GE alfalfa, for the following reasons:

* GE contamination of non-GE and organic crops would be inevitable
* You won’t buy products that are GE-contaminated
* Alfalfa is a major food source for livestock and GE alfalfa would destroy the integrity of organic dairy products
* You support the rights of farmers to grow the crops of their choice, and GE contamination makes that impossible
* GE crops increase pesticide use, harming human health and the environment
* Ask your Representative and Senators to contact Secretary Vilsack and urge him to deny USDA approval of Monsanto’s GE alfalfa

Then email us at info@truefoodnow.org and tell us who you called and let us know what kind of response you got!

LSD and Social Media

Dangerous Questions 3 Comments

hugIn the 60s, there were those of us who consumed very large amounts of hullucinogens. I’ll be one of the first to admit I had my share. They completely rocked my world!

Why on earth would I bring that up?

Because I think social media is going to have (is having) as expanding and powerful an impact on every last thing we do the same way hullucinogens and the ubiquitous peace sign did in the 60s. Here’s why:

When we dropped out of school, out of work, out of normalcy in the 60s, we did it because we were fed up with the norm. We hated The Establishment and feeling disenfranchised by it–we didn’t want to feel like insignificant numbers in an impersonal system.

We somehow discovered that Read the rest of this entry »

Transforming Fear into Creative Juice to Live Your Dreams and Highest Ideals

Dangerous Questions Comments Off

sunset2Tonight I was thinking how all the ballyhoo around the flu is a smokescreen, a coverup that will upset people–just like the savings and loan scandal was for the arms scandal.

Even so, if we don’t want the flu shot, we need to stand up and say no if it come to our doors. Others will line up by the thousands. Let them.

In the bigger scheme of things, it is a pretty puny game. Did you ever see the movie Wag the Dog? It’s a perfect illustration of what’s going on. It’s a game that has repeated itself over and over again, and now it’s full of new players–too young to remember the history of what went before, too eager to win, too willing to accumalate, too anxious to look good and feel powerful to realize it’s all miniscule in the larger view of things. Yes, we need our goodies, our homes and tools–but do we really need billions?

What does the universe care whether or not Wall Street moguls take temporary power of a planet? What does it care that some little virus gets released?

The REAL question is how do *we* handle ourselves as we participate in the Game?

• We commit to ourselves to uphold our personal sense of integrity.
• We stand firm for our values.
• We quietly, lawfully and honorably say no to what hurts us.
• We say yes to and embrace that which grows the health and well-being of the entire vita-sphere.
• We say yes to big hearts, wholeness and affection.
• We quietly turn our backs on greed, selfishness and self-aggrandizement, knowing that without the water of our attention, they shrivel and die of thirst.
• We invent ways of being and doing that completely bypass attempts to endarken us.

I’ve gotten letters from people thanking me for what I have been writing over the last week or so, and from people who said they were ‘hopping mad’ about the flu thing.

OK, be hopping mad. And then calm yourself and make sober choices. Find out what you can do, and do it, and help others who want to, too.

Once Again, the Flu Vaccine. What Did We Tell You? Old News, but Urgent.

Dangerous Questions 1 Comment

ponderTHE FLU. AGAIN.
I’m standing back and watching the whole thing come down just like everyone said it would. I am so impatient with stupidity. This is stupidity at its stupidest. Yes, folks, the vaccine has the flu in it! Duh! And the nasal spray vaccine? It’s the worst–it has the vaccine–but no antibodies! What the #$^!!@#%*!?

And yes, they said a long time ago that the way a pandemic gets started is to inoculate–well, here we go! Inoculation has begun.

Start wearing a hospital mask to the market, folks, and use those little hand-wipey thngs after touching the carts and doors. Use that Pure Green 24 disinfectant–carry it around with you in their little spray bottle. I do. I got it HERE.

“DOCTORS CONCERNED”? I SAY IT’S ABOUT BLOODY TIME! (blue italics my comments)
Doctors Concerned FluMist Vaccine Could Spread Live H1N1 Virus
By dochand- Tuesday, October 6, 2009

Doctors and hospitals are expressing concern that the FluMist vaccine could endanger people because it contains live H1N1 virus, unlike the injectable shot that contains antibodies. With no less than 60 per cent of the U.S. population immunodeficient in one way or another, could FluMist be a pandemic waiting to happen?

Hospitals in Colorado and elsewhere are shunning the FluMist H1N1 vaccine, a nasal spray that contains live swine flu virus, because of fears it could infect people with weakened immune systems and underlying health conditions.

“Several metro area hospitals said they won’t be taking the FluMist because they don’t want to endanger patients,” reports TheDenverChannel.com.

Lois VanFleet, infection prevention specialist at Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette, expressed concern that doctors and nurses who inhaled the live virus could infect patients whose immune systems are compromised.

UMMMM–isn’t that waht those funny-looking hospital masks are for? Uh–why aren’t they using them? I was shocked when I was in hospital last winter that they didn’t. Don’t they care?

However, H1N1 FluMist is being rolled out nationwide from this week, including at “drive-through clinics” across the country where the nasal spray is administered while people sit in their cars with their window wide open.

I ask you–where did we go wrong? How did we let this happen? Where does stupidity like this come from? Weren’t we all brought up to think that we ought to be trying to do our best to be good people?

This is not good, people. This is not good people trying to do good for people, I don’t give a damn what anyone else says about it.

The live virus contained in the nasal spray is weakened but it can be transmitted from person to person for up to three weeks.

The nasal spray is being rolled out on a mass scale before the widespread introduction of the injectable vaccine. Some fear that the nasal spray will contribute to a wider pandemic, which will then provide governments with the crisis they need to make the injectable vaccine mandatory.

“This would accelerate the move to a state of emergency, cripple the US health care system, and would result in the “need” to have military, eventually UN troops, take control,” notes TheFluCase.com.

LISTEN UP!

“Also, all public assemblies, including courts, would be prohibited, thereby satisfying a condition for the imposition of martial law, mass quarantines, and forced vaccinations for the rest of us.”

According to the Mayo Clinic, the swine flu scandal of 1976, when more people died from the vaccine than the actual virus, was what caused the live virus to be removed from future vaccines.

It is admitted that FluMist contains the live virus.

“It has been documented that the live viruses from the vaccine can be shed and spread into the community from recipient children for up to 21 days, and even longer from adults. Viral shedding also puts breastfeeding infants at risk if the mother has been given FluMist,” writes Dr. Sherri Tenpenny, one of the most outspoken physicians in the country on the hazards of vaccines and vaccination.

FluMist’s own package insert reads as follows, “FluMist® recipients should avoid close contact with immunocompromised individuals for at least 21 days.”

“The warning is specifically directed toward those living in the same household with an immunocompromised person, but the on-going release of live viruses throughout the community may be a significant risk to everyone who has a weak, or weakened, immune system,” writes Tenpenny, pointing out that if one takes into account a plethora of health conditions that could be classified as contributing to immunodeficiency, as much as 60% of the entire population could be considered to be “chemically immunosuppressed.”

Like we’ll know who that is. Should we go up to people and say, “Are you immonucompromised?” Are you KIDDING me?

Or how about this–maybe we should all wear big cardboard signs on our chests that say, “I’m immunosuppressed! Don’t come near me! Don’t touch me! Don’t breath on me! Don’t even look at me!”

And isn’t it a nice, easily said and remembered, commerical name: the FluMist. Like, a sweet, gentle mist, easy to say, makes my day. NOT.

“An ever greater concern about FluMist is the contents within the vaccine. Each 0.5ml of the formula contains 10 6.5-7.5 particles of live, attenuated influenza virus. That means that between 10 million and 100 million viral particles will be forcefully injected into the nostrils when administered.  The risk that the vaccine may contain contaminant avian retroviruses still remains,” warns Tenpenny.

We’ve told you this before:
One of the pharmaceutical companies developing nasal spray vaccines is Baxter International, who were caught earlier this year releasing batches of vaccines from a lab in Austria that were contaminated live bird flu virus, otherwise known as H5N1.

This video outlines further concerns regarding FluMist and the nasal spray vaccine in general.

“If one were going to MANUFACTURE a pandemic, the *easiest* way to do so would be to introduce live viruses into the nasal passages. Most likely, because the virus in the vaccine is NOT the same as that of the H1N1 flu going around, most likely then to cause recombinants and further reassortants. Also after getting the vaccine with live virus in it, even though the person receiving the vaccine may not get sick right away, that person is capable of “shedding” the virus to others in close proximity for a period of up to 4 weeks.

We are advised: IF ANYONE YOU KNOW GETS THE VACCINE – STAY AWAY FROM THEM.

Right. Like your kids, and your spouse–just leave ‘em out in the streets, why don’t you? Good grief. Do they realy expect us to stay awy from people we love when they need care? Maybe if ‘they’ didn’t make this stupid thing happen, all this wouldn’t come about. How I detest stupidity. Can you hear me growling???

RANT: Dangerous Questions Part II: Is the Customer King or Vassal?

Dangerous Questions, Rant 2 Comments

sand-trap2RANT: I’m grinding my teeth over this one. If you have 1ShoppingCart (or 1AutomationWiz, or any of the other sister sites that 1SC supports), you’ve probably seen their new announcements that “premier” customer service is going to cost you an extra 35 bucks a month. What????

I should pay that much every month in order to be first in line when I only call them three or four times a year? No way. I should be put on the back burner and wait ten years for a service rep if I don’t pay it? That sucks.

Now let’s look at Zappos. Ever heard of them? They started out selling shoes. Now they have a full palette of products, and are planning to expand out indefinitely.

Their entire platform is highest-possible quality customer service. That’s it. They absolutely bend over backwards to provide the most outrageously good service that their customers become avid, loyal, lifetime customers. Obviously that includes quality products, else how would their service work, right?

I watched a video the other night where the owner was talking about this. He gave several examples of how customer service agents had gone not the extra mile but the extra 100 for people. He said that, in most companies, the average call-time for a customer service call has to be 3.5 minutes or less–or the service rep can get fired! Fired!!!! For helping the customer? How stupid is that? Hello?

Because to me, getting the answers to the questions is way more important than tolerating ignornace one more second, even if the reply hits my reality and shatters it. Good–if it shatters, it just means I’m that much closer to authenticity. I have seen no answer to this:

What happens to our great connectivity, to which we have become so drastically accustomed–using and interacting with every day–vis a vis, the internet–if something were to happen and electricity disappeared? Ooooh, what a thought!

Yes, a radical question. But after experiencing a couple of days last year when there were either thunder storms that took power lines out or a car wreck that plowed through a local power pole and left the entire neighborhood without power for hours, I began to ask myself what it would be like to go back to our pre-connected days. Ugh!

The first day that happened, I just went down to the beach and took a well-deserved break. But then it kept going Read the rest of this entry »
