I’ve noticed that systems work best. One or two teleclasses here, a CD, Audio or Video there, just isn’t enough if you want your clients to get a really good bite on the success they’re looking to achieve.

A Compliment and A Marketing Tip or Three…

Today I got a delightful gift in the mail! I adore getting surprises in the mail! Who doesn’t?? (Update: Read all the way down to see who it was REALLY from!)

There was a large, hand-written card saying how I might “use this token of self-love” to remind me of “how much I really do love the beautiful and powerful woman” I am.

Hm, I wondered, what is it?

I opened the cute little plain muslin bag with its attractively designed and printed tag, and found a nicely made choker necklace with a small pendent. There was a red enameled heart on one side, and an inset ‘me’ with a heart over it on the other. Nice! Very appealing, and actually looks pretty good on me. Thank you!

Now, since you know I’m all about building relationships, what can you, too, learn from this nice gift? I’m going to tell you my honest thoughts as I went through the process of opening my little surprise.

There were a couple of minor mistakes she made and I’m going to point them out, but overall give her an A for friendliness and effort, and a big thank you!

Want to post your images online – easily – without being a techno-freak?

I got a note from another artist today who told about a whole bunch of websites where you can post your photos and art images both for free and for fee. Here’s what he says: here are places where you can can post your images:

This was a guest post on Darren Rowse’s Problogger.com by Christine Pilkington, a digital media veteran who recently launched VancouverMom.ca, a hyper-local blog that shows Metro Vancouver moms the unique, intelligent and beautiful side of their city. Christine also can be found at GoGoMamaGo.com, a blog for mom entrepreneurs.

Eight weeks ago, I launched my second blogging venture VancouverMom.ca and I’m thrilled to say that the site’s initial performance is exceeding my expectations. I’m hitting my pageviews and unique visitors four months early! In my mind, I’m way ahead of schedule and breaking out the bubbly.

Now I know what you’re thinking: either you’re breaking out the bubbly with me or you’re a skeptic and think that I estimated badly. And my response to you is this: It doesn’t really matter. Not really – especially when you consider the more important step I took: I wrote it down.

As a web consultant, I’ve encountered many new web site owners, including bloggers, who were afraid of putting numbers down – fearful of guessing and being wrong. Sure they know what they should measure – pageviews, unique visits, RSS feed subscriptions or whatever – but oftentimes they’re paralyzed with the question: I can guess, but how do I know that my forecast is a good one?

The truth is – you don’t. Unless you have prior experience estimating pageviews or site visits, or know someone who has, your estimate will be a wild guess or just an educated guess at best. There are so many factors that make a new blog successful that in reality, even “experienced” experts are really just guessing.

I’m here to tell you that a wild guess is better than nothing at all. Here’s why:

You get sense of accomplishment

I love that I’m months ahead of schedule and I feel like I’m on track. When I wrote the numbers down, I was giving my absolute best guess at the time. I’m projecting advertising revenues from the site and wanted to know when I could reasonably expect to start selling ads. I admit:

2 RECOMMENDATIONS & AN ‘OOPS’

NEW TWITTER APPLICATION
I admit I was one of the ones who said, “Get a life!” when it came to Twitter. But I’m seeing significant results when I use it along with my Facebook page to talk about what’s up–whether teleclasses, new products or blog posts.

I’ve been frustrated, though, because I just don’t have the time to post as much as I’d like. I hear three times a day ought to be minimum if you’re serious about your marketing. Well, I don’t know about you, but I’m not going to sit here and post on Twitter morning, noon and night!

So I was really pleased when I found a little app with which you can create automatic tweets at any time. Yes, I know, you can use Tweetlater to do automated tweets. But their system is clumsy and awkward, and I don’t like it.

I thought, OK, I’d try out a new goodie I hear about: it’s called TwtAutoresponder (check it out HERE), and it goes for a measley 17 bucks. I love it! It’s simple, plain and completely easy to use.

10/10: BIT.LY SHORTY URLS
I combine TwtAutoresponder with my trackable links from bit.ly (sign up there at zero cost for great URL shortener).

Mobile bit.ly: There’s a simple mobile version of bit.ly available at m.bit.ly , which is great if you need to access bit.ly links you’ve saved for later. Even good for Blackberry users.

In case you wonder why I use URL shorteners: I used to get a whole load of emails complaining that the long links I sent were cut off in the email, didn’t work, etc. Now I don’t get any. Whether you use Snipurl.com, Tinyurl.com or Bit.ly (and there are many more–just google free URL shorteners), you need to be careful to see if your spam rating goes up or not.

iCONTACT.COM
Last month I tried out iContact.com just for kicks. I like their interface a lot–it’s very navigable. I also like it that you can send emails to people who didn’t open the ones you sent previously; and I really liked it that I could call and get real person help.

But I was really disappointed that they rate emails with any redirected URLs as an 8 (outrageously high) on the spam meter! Pleagh! No way! And I couldn’t modify their forms the way I wanted to. There were a couple other small things that didn’t sit well, so I gave up on them.

SHOPPING CART, ETC.
So I’m back to continuing on with my previous email delivery service with 1AutomationWiz.com, –which has a complete, comprehensive array of services from email delivery, autoresponders, product buy buttons, affiliate setups and other services. I hate it that you have to pay extra for phone support, but I call them so rarely I guess it’s a non-issue.

I do like it that everything I need is under one roof, and their monthly rates are pretty reasonable for what you get.
